Introducing the Quebec Newbie –
I’ve always known what I wanted to do when I grew up. I was not going to settle for a boring job, a boring husband and a boring dog. So as soon as I got my college certificate from U.Q.À.M. in Creative Writing and my Translation certificate from McGill University, I had only one goal: do everything in my power to avoid having to work as a translator for engineering documents or Tylenol bottles. But I have to be honest, I was about to give up. I had been warned, of course. “No one can make a living out of translating TV subtitles. Think about your future. Your retirement plan. Your... whatever.” And it was certainly turning about to be true. Was it really unfeasible? Was finding a great career completely out of the realm of possibilities?
And then I found you. This amazing, award-winning, fully established innovative French company just starting out in Quebec. The concept blew my mind. Never mind the fact that the Canadian offices are to be 15 minutes away from where I live; it was made for me. If I hadn’t gotten this position, I would have, at least, ordered a few personalized novels... Who wouldn’t?
So, here I am, with everything falling into place. You all welcomed me on board with open arms and it feels really good. I want to thank you for that.
I’m looking forward to this remarkable journey, to make this wonderful concept known to every Canadian and contribute to its certain success.
Thank you all again for your support and encouragement!
Dedicated to her new –and lasting– non-boring job... (oh, and I have the non-boring dog, too... ;) )
